The Villagers fell to another league defeat away to Irlam on Saturday afternoon as their search for a league win continues.
In tough conditions Steve Lloyd’s men found themselves behind after only 8 minutes when Jordan Icely got on the end of a cross after Barnton had failed to clear an Irlam corner.
Icely was on hand shortly after to double the home sides advantage as he turned the ball in after Rob Cooke had pulled of a cracking save to deny Marcus Perry.
Barnton missed a golden opportunity to get back into the game when Chris Smith hit the post with a penalty after he was pulled down inside the area. Cooke was then on hand to deny the home side a third goal but it was the Villagers who finished the half the stronger with Ryan Malone and Chris Bandell going close with efforts from distance.

The Villagers dominated large parts of the second half with Jack Irlam going close with effort from outside the area before shouts for a penalty were turned away.
George Mannion almost converted a perfect cross from Smith as the Villagers kept knocking on the door, Irlam carried a threat on the break and Cooke pulled of a fantastic double save to keep his team in the contest.
The turning point in the game came in the 70th minute when Smith was pulled down through on goal only to have his appeals turned down.
Icely was on hand to rub salt into the Barnton wounds when he completed his hat trick late on before Perry got his first and Irlam’s fourth goal of the afternoon.
