AFC Liverpool 5-0 Barnton
Villagers search for first win goes on
The Villagers paid the price for a poor second half display as they fell to a second successive 5-0 defeat on Merseyside this time at the hands of AFC Liverpool.
Despite falling behind to an early goal from Michael Boyle the Villagers had the better of the opening half, with captain Chris Smith going close before he laid on Jason McShane inside the box but his effort was deflected just wide. The home side carried a continual threat throughout the opening half and should have doubled their lead on the break but Chris Davies was on hand with a fantastic save.
Half Time: AFC Liverpool 1-0 Barnton
The second half saw the home side turn on the style and put the Villagers to the sword, before the second goal of the match Smith struck the bar for Barnton but that was as good as it got for the visitors.
Daniel Boden was on hand to double the AFC Liverpool lead on the 67th minute and Stephen Milne put the game beyond the Villagers with a smart finish on the 73rd minute.
Boden was then on hand to get his second and his sides fourth of the day as he rounded Davies in the Barnton goal and right at the death AFC Liverpool got their fifth goal with Adam Weston finishing superbly from the edge of the area.
Up next for the Villagers is a home clash against Congleton Town on Wednesday evening with kick off at 7:45pm.
