Villagers exit Macron Cup
The Villagers crashed out of the Macron Cup in dramatic fashion away to Winsford United as they lost out in a seven goal thriller.
The contest was played out in testing conditions with Barnton adapting to the wind the quicker of the two teams, and they took and the look after Chris Bandell kept his cool after a terrific assist from Jack Woolley to give his side the lead.
Wooley was on hand to slot past Matthew Green in the Winsford net on the 35th minute to double the Villagers lead after Ryan Malone had gone close.

The second half saw the Villagers continue to create the better chances but were unable to stretch their lead and Winsford found themselves back in the game when Perry Bircumshaw headed back Rob Cooke.
Jason McShane restored the two goal lead for Barnton minutes later after Chris Smith had forced Green into a great stop.
But the drama was still to come, Robbie Hatton reduced the deficit on the 84 minute with a free header from a Winsford free kick and then Will Foster levelled the contest up with an emphatic finish on the 88th minute.
The Winsford winner came in controversial circumstances with Foster’s in jury time header finally judged to have crossed the line. The Villagers were furious and Patrick Hamid was sent off for his part in the protests but they were ultimately left helpless and crashed out of the Macron Cup in injury time for the second straight season.
