The Villagers crashed out of the Macron Cup on Saturday afternoon, as they were beaten by a strong Congleton Town side at the Offside Trust stadium.
The visitors got their afternoon off to a perfect start when Tom Morris fired in from outside the area after only four minutes, and they continued to dominated the early exchanges with Arran Lyons on top form with a string of impressive saves.
Ryan Malone was a constant threat all afternoon and was at the heart of all his sides best play and he was on hand to assist Luke Wilson-Jones who was denied by a smart stop from former Villager Rob Cooke in the Congleton net.
Just as the Villagers were growing into the contest Congleton hit them on the break to double their lead before the break, Steve Foster was on hand with a smart finish to round off a deadly counter attack.
Half Time: Barnton 0-2 Congleton Town
The second half sparked into life when Jack Shaw was judged to have brought down Emini Adegbenro inside the area, but the impressive Lyons produced a fantastic save to deny Adegbenro from the spot.
The penalty missed ignited the Villagers into life with Lee Guirado going close before Sam Houghton's free kick went just wide, but Adegbenro made up for his penalty miss with a header to kill off any chance of a Barnton comeback.
The Bears finished the contest on top and rounded off an impressive display when Dan Cope was on hand to apply a simple finish to make it 4-0.
